Ground Source Heat Pumps

Are Ground Source Heat Pumps suitable for you?

What is a Ground Source Heat Pump?

Ground source heat pumps are supplied from buried pipes that extract heat from the ground. This heat can then be used to heat radiators, underfloor and hot water in your building.

According to the Energy Saving Trust, heating your home in this way can save you over £1,000 per year on your bills, and earn up to £3,000 per year in government grants from the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI), domestic customers receive this payment for 7 years and commercial customers for 20 years.

So, is a GSHP suitable?

Is your ground area for a ground loop? the ground needs to be suitable for digging a trench or a borehole and accessible for digging machinery.

What fuel will you be replacing? Heat pumps may not be the best option for homes using mains gas. The system will pay for itself much more quickly if it’s replacing an electricity, oil or LPG heating system.

The technology in recent years has made leaps and bounds in terms of efficiency, it is far better than oil boilers fitted over 10 years ago.
